State In-Person RPR Skills Testing Candidate Information
Exam Day – Overview
Exam Site Information October 2, 2026. Wildhorse Resort & Casino, 46510 Wildhorse Boulevard, Pendleton, OR 97801. All tests will be proctored by Site Proctors. Exam report and start times will be sent via email to all registered candidates within two weeks of registration confirmation. Candidates must arrive by the assigned report time or forfeit their exam; THERE IS NO LATE ADMITTANCE. Exam site web pages should be reviewed before registration and 24 hours before exam day. Equipment and Software Rules and Regulations The setup and operation of equipment are integral parts of the exam. Therefore, candidates should not expect or receive instruction from Site Proctors or other candidates on operating their own equipment.
Additional time will not be allowed for equipment failure, accidental erasing of computer files, forgotten items (e.g., cables, power cords, etc.), or related events. Use of the candidate’s own equipment is strictly at the candidate’s own risk.
The State Association and Site Proctors assume no responsibility should any equipment not perform properly or be dropped, stolen, damaged, etc. If your steno machine has a test mode, the test mode must be used. If you do not know if test mode is available on your steno machine, please contact the manufacturer or refer to your user manual.
Skills candidates are permitted to use CAT. Realtime translation is allowed in the testing room. The candidate’s screen must be situated in such a manner that the display will not be visible to other candidates.
Prohibited Items Candidates are prohibited from using electronic devices of any kind once they have signed in at the testing site, except for their writer and computer. Electronic devices include, but are not limited to, audio sync, digital recorders, and any other audio recording and/or screen capture tools. Site Proctors have the right to inspect a candidate’s equipment, including computer settings and the desktop recycle bin, before and after the test.
Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices must be turned off, not just muted, and stored until after you leave the testing site.
No audio assist of any kind is permitted during the test dictation or during transcription. Headphones are prohibited while transcribing the test.
What to Bring on Exam Day You must bring a valid, current government-issued photo ID with the name matching the name on your registration. Candidates who do not arrive with proper identification will be denied entrance to the exam. Candidates are responsible for providing all necessary equipment, including:

Saving and Submitting Your Files Candidates must perform their own translating and editing functions. Each test leg MUST be written as a separate file. Use of all capitals or all lowercase will result in an automatic failure of the exam per “What is an error RPR.” There will be no exceptions. The skills test transcripts must be the work of the individual candidate. Candidates are responsible for producing their own transcripts and notes without assistance, including saving, locating, and uploading all testing files. Final transcripts must be copied, pasted, and submitted in the Realtime Coach testing platform in .txt format. Final transcripts should not include line numbers or warm-up material. To be eligible to receive an official score, all candidates are required to upload:
Candidates who do not transcribe must sign the Affidavit of Non-Transcription and submit it to the Site Proctor before leaving the testing room. Candidates will receive a blank affidavit of non-transcription when signing in.
Deleting Testing Files Candidates are required to delete all forms of the test before leaving the testing room. If your machine has an SD card, be sure it is blank. The Site Proctor may require you to reformat the SD card if you are unable to delete the specified test files. Grading All transcripts are graded according to the NCRA grading guidelines “What is an Error?” Results Official results will be emailed to the email address used for the candidate’s registration within 10-15 business days of the testing date. Cancellation policy Cancellations should be sent to [email protected] and must include, your name, mailing address, email address, test registration you wish to cancel and include your reason for cancellation. Cancellations must be received no later than the day of the testing event based on the registration for the test(s) being cancelled to be considered for a refund. NCRA will retain a $35 processing fee for each cancelled test registration. If you do not contact NCRA by the end of the testing date for which you registered, your testing fee will be forfeited. If you are requesting a cancellation and refund after the cancellation deadline due to an injury, major illness, or other extenuating circumstance, please submit back-up documentation with the cancellation request Examples of adequate back-up documentation include, but are not limited to, doctors’ notes, obituaries, etc. Extenuating circumstance cancellations must be received within 30 days of the standard cancellation deadline. Please note that the $35 processing fee will still be applied. Failure to submit your request with back-up documentation will result in the return of your request without consideration. Cancellations for extenuating circumstances must be received within 30 days after the cancellation deadline of the testing date for which you registered to be considered. If you do not contact NCRA within 30 days after the cancellation deadline of the testing date for which you registered with the necessary extenuating circumstance documentation, your testing fee will be forfeited. Any cancellations received after the 30 days will not be considered for a refund, no matter the circumstances. NCRA Testing Policy I acknowledge I am aware of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) policy concerning testing honesty and integrity. Failure to follow any NCRA Testing procedures may result in my automatic failure and being barred from taking NCRA-administered
tests for a minimum of three testing cycles or permanently depending on the nature of the violation. NCRA members may also be suspended or expelled from the association. I understand that the test is the exclusive property of the National Court Reporters Association. Copyright law protects the NCRA Tests. No part of these tests may be copied or reproduced in part or whole by any means whatsoever, including memorization, unless previously authorized by NCRA. I further attest that the skills exam I am submitting is solely my own and was developed stenographically during the exam. I have used no notes, materials, or other aids other than those provided by NCRA. I further attest that, to the best of my knowledge, I have not retained a copy (either audio, text or stenographically) of the skills exam. Further, if I discover at any time that I have accidentally retained said copy, I will immediately delete it (any and all formats) and notify NCRA promptly of the discovery. I further attest that I will not share any copies of this skills test with others, nor will I share its content (terminology or topic), either privately or on a public forum. The theft or attempted theft of an NCRA Test is punishable as a crime. Questions? You will need to register using your NCRA ID number. If you do not have an NCRA ID number, you will be asked to create an NCRA account to complete your registration. Candidates agree to abide by NCRA’s Testing Policy by virtue of their registration. NOTE: NCRA DOES NOT SWAP REGISTRATIONS! Make sure you are registering for the correct test.
